Edward Berg, 88 year old resident of Plymouth, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN died Sunday, June 14 at Mission Farms Nursing Home in Plymouth, MN.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18 at 2:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN with Chaplain Gregg Valentine officiating.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service. The burial will be held at the East Swanville Cemetery.
The military rites will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 and The Little Falls VFW Post #1112.
Edward L. Berg was born August 11, 1926 in Swanville, Minnesota to the late Edward L. and (Dorothy) Luberts.He attended rural country school in Swanville, MN. Edward served his country during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after 21 years of service. Ed was a career military man and was proud of his service to his country. During his time in the military he received the following awards: United Nations Korea Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal 4th Award, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal/ 20 years of Service Bar, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the Vietnam Service Medal/ Bronze Star.He was united in marriage to Marjorie Miller on May 5, 1955 in North Dakota. The couple later divorced. Ed enjoyed fishing, listening to polka music, dancing and fixing and tinkering with anything put in front of him. He was an accomplished musician playing the harmonica, concertina, violin and guitar.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda (Will) Biermaier of Browerville, MN Mary (Marty) Kelm of Brook Park, MN; grandchildren, Travis (Dawn) Edwards, Lance (Karissa) Edwards, Sarah ( Dan Carlson) Slade, Brittany Proper, Eric Proper, Jennifer Biermaier, Clayton Kelm, Jazmine Kelm; great-grandchildren, Liam Edwards, Evelyn Edwards, Ashtyn Edwards, Cody Slade, Payton Slade, Colin Slade, Finley Carlson, Grayson Carlson; siblings, Gordon (Dolores) Berg of Brainerd, MN, Viola Berg of Little Falls, MN, Gertrude Warmuth of Roseville, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy; brothers, Lyle Berg, David Berg; sisters, Margaret Heinz, Victoria Petrowski, Mildred Berg, Helen Berg and Betty Jane Berg; brothers-in-law, James Warmuth, Ervin Heinz and Walter Petrowski and his special friend, Lorraine Schuett.
