Edward H. Kleinschmidt

Edward Ed Kleinschmidt, age 79, of Little Falls, MN, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Jeremy Ploof officiating.Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls with military honors by the Little Falls, V.F.W. Post #1112.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Edward Henry Kleinschmidt was born on May 27, 1935, in Little Falls, Minnesota the son of Edward & Bertha (Schraut) Kleinschmidt.He attended school in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1953.Following his schooling, Ed went to California where he worked before joining the United States Army where he served from 1953 until 1955.After his military service, Ed returned to Minnesota and worked for Northern Pacific Railroad from 1956 until his retirement in 1993.Ed was united in marriage to Margaret Peggy Norton on March 8, 1958.The couple made their home in Little Falls where they raised their five children.Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading Westerns, collecting guns and feeding all the stray cats. He was a member of Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 and St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brenda (Scott) Nason of Louisville, KY, Linda (Tom) Kliber of Little Falls, MN, Rebecca (Rich Wallin) Kleinschmidt of Rice, MN, Ann Marie (Arnold) Taranto of Little Falls, MN; sister, Patricia Nina Pappas-Hoffman of Brainerd, MN; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Bertha (Schraut) Kleinschmidt; wife, Margaret Peggy (Norton) Kleinschmidt (3/13/2014); son, Mark Kleinschmidt (2/29/2012); sister, Elizabeth Betty Jorgenson; brother, George Kleinschmidt; and an infant grandchild.
