Edward A. Harrison

Funeral services will be held at 12 o'clock on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Chapel in Little Falls for Edward A. Harrison, age 92, of Little Falls who died Wednesday at St. Benedict's Senior Community Center. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls. Edward was born August 1, 1917 in Clay Center, Kansas to Minnie Anderson and Arthur H. Harrison. He married Vyola Messerich on April 18, 1939. He later married Gertrude Weiss on July 4, 1953. Ed worked in salvage sales the last fifty years of his life. He was a true environmentalist: loving the outdoors, collecting and recycling goods, gardening, and caring for his property. Ed had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. He loved his children and their families and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include one son and two daughters: Michael (Velma) Harrison, Palisade, MN; Dianne (John) Schlichting, St. Cloud, and Barbara Rand, Eagan, and their children: Jon (Linda) Harrison; Christopher (Jennifer) Schlichting, Jonathan Schlichting, JoLynn (Cindy) Markison, Ann (Jeff) Dingman; Erika Rand and Alex Rand; great-grandchildren Jack Abraham and Katherine Harrison; sister, Mary Jane Wolters, Little Falls, and sisters-in-law Doris, Little Falls; Erna, Wadena, and Edith Messerich, Waite Park. Ed is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as by special friends including Michael Rand, John Palmer, and Anna Montague. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Arthur Harrison; spouses: Vyola (Messerich) and Gertrude (Weiss); daughter, Mary Lynn; four brothers: Darrow, Henry, Kenneth, and Donald, and two sisters: Olive and Margaret. The family wishes to thank St. Benedict's Senior Center second floor nursing staff for the care and love they extended to Edward during his eight-month stay at the facility. They also wish to thank St. Cloud Hospice for helping Edward walk into Eternity.
