Dougals Hooter McGuire

Douglas E. "Hooter" McGuire, age 69, of Bowlus, MN, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. A Remembrance Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Bowlus Community Center in Bowlus, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Bowlus Community Center in Bowlus, MN. Douglas Eugene McGuire was born on April 6, 1943 in Bassett, Nebraska the son of Alex & Martha (Jones) McGuire. He grew up in the Bassett area where he attended school. Following his schooling, he began ranching in Bassett area. After ranching, he went in to carpentry when he moved to Minnesota 30 years ago. Hooter has lived in the Bowlus, Upsala area for the remainder of his life. He was united in marriage to Theresa Kalis Roketa on September 23, 1988. The couple made their home in Bowlus where he lived at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, cross rock hunting, turtle stomping, visiting with his friends at the local pub and spending time with Theresa. He especially loved his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Theresa of Bowlus, MN; children, Ronda Erickson of Arlington, NE, Tammi (Marty) Painter of Ainsworth, NE, and Terri (Darrin) Kremer of Ainsworth, NE; step-son, Stan (Sandi) Roketa of St. Cloud, MN; siblings, Elva Buoy and Glenda Gilliland of Long Pine, NE, Ellen Jackson of Bassett, NE, Maxine (Luverne) Olberding of Stuart, NE; sister-in-law, Judy McGuire of Valentine, NE; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold McGuire and sister, Dorothy Wheeler; son-in-law, Kenny Erickson.
