Dorothy Estella (Gilson) Doucette, 86 year old resident of Little Falls died peacefully on Monday, November 27 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living from complications of Alzheimers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and from 10:00-11:00 A.M on Saturday all at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Dorothy Estella Gilson was born on January 14, 1931 in Fort Ripley Township, Crow Wing County to the late Wesley and Mary (Brundrett) Gilson. She attended country school in Fort Ripley Township, Crow Wing County, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Daniel Doucette on June 1, 1949 at Holy Family Catholic Church Belle Prairie. The couple made their home in Ripley Township, Morrison County from 1949 to 1977. Dorothy worked side by side with her husband, Daniel on the farm and raising the couples seven children. Dorothy will always be remembered for her smiles and songs along with her love of flowers, music, dancing and baking her wonderful Peanut Butter pies. She gave freely of her time to others, especially enjoying spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and volunteering at Belle Prairie Church. She also enjoyed traveling, taking her grandchildren on trips to various places in the United States.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Doucette (Companion Rob Taylor) of Cushing, Beverly (Darrell) Welle of Fort Ripley, Mark (Mary) Doucette of Little Falls, Kevin (Carol) Doucette of Little Falls, Mary (Dan) Bollin of Ponder, TX, Dana (Don) Smieja of Dassel, Leah (Dennis) Posterick of Pittsburg, KS; 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel on August 19, 2005 and a grandson, Shane Garretson in 1996; four brothers and five sisters.
A special thank you to the Diamond Willow staff, especially Sara and Melody, who have journeyed with Mom and this family through her illness since February of 2008.
