Doris Gwost, 87 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, died Wednesday, August 28 at the Country Manor in Sartell, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 3 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.A visitation will be held Monday, September 2 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN and from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church.
Doris M. Gwost was born June 30, 1926 in Pierz, MN to the late Herman and Adeline Addie (Virnig) Boser. She was united in marriage to Walter Wally H. Gwost on August 16, 1945 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN.The couple made their home in Little Falls, for almost 40 years. After Wallys death on September 22, 1984, Doris continued to live there until 2009. She then resided at Pine Grove Manor for two years and most recently at the Country Manor in Sartell, MN since 2011.
Doris was first and foremost a homemaker raising her 11 children.Later she worked for Lutheran Social Services at the Christus Group Home in Little Falls, Hammerbecks Nursery, The Presidents Caf and even took care of the flowers for Our Lady of Lourdes and First National Bank for several years. She was the founder of Worn-A-Bit, a gently used clothing store in Little Falls supporting Pro-Life. Doris and Wally also helped start the Morrison County MCCL, the Morrison County Day Activity Center (DAC) and were members of the Advocacy, Resources and Community (ARC). But Doris truly loved her other children - her flowers. She loved them immensely and grew and nurtured them with a passion and flare. She also enjoyed dancing, sewing, quilting and guiding bus tours. She was a blue ribbon recipient for vegetables, bread making, canning and her caramel rolls for many years at the Morrison County Fair.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Doug (Mary) Gwost of Shoreview, MN, Darlene (Bill) Starr of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Jim (Jo) Gwost of St. Cloud, MN, Gloria West of DePere, WI, Kevin (Marlene) Gwost of Sauk Centre, MN, Al (Lori) Gwost of St. Joseph, MN, Reggie (Mary) Gwost of Sauk Rapids, MN, Mary (Steve) Spaulding of Blaine, MN, Marty Gwost of Sauk Centre, MN and Christina (Dan) Haggerty of St. Cloud, MN; 36 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey (Helen) Boser of Columbia Heights, MN and sisters-in-law Faye Boser and Vangie Gwost of Little Falls and Theresa Gwost of Lansing, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Wally; son, Robert Gwost on August 23, 1999; siblings, Ruby Flicker, Lavina Braun and Lloyd Boser.
