Donald A. Yasgar, 82 year old resident of Little Falls died Saturday, December 12 at his home in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 16 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery North of Little Falls, MN with military honors by the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 and 9-11 A.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 all at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:00 P.M. Donald was born on February 8, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Alvin and Florence (Sladek) Yasgar. He moved to Little Falls, MN, and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1945. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 6, 1945 serving in World War II. Honors and decorations received include the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Donald was honorably discharged on January 22, 1947. Following his military service, Donald met and married Bonnie Mae Everts on August 25, 1951. The couple moved to Thermapolis, Wyoming where Donald worked as a parts man at the Chevrolet garage and drove tour bus in Yellowstone National Park. In 1956, they moved to Little Falls where Donald worked at the Little Falls Chevrolet Garage. He then went to work at Larson Boats in 1957 where he drove truck delivering boats all over the United States (mostly the West Coast). He logged four million miles without ever having an accident. After his retirement, he worked for Jim's Auto Salvage for a short time. Donald started driving semi for Anderson Potato Farm during harvest. This past fall was his best and last harvest. Activities and hobbies he enjoyed include, being a Minnesota Twins fan, spear fishing, ice fishing, mechanics, repairing many lawn mowers and listening to Polka Joe on Saturday evenings. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his beloved dog "Babe". He will be remembered most for his storytelling and making people laugh. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls and the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Bullis of Moorhead, MN and Catherine (Bob) Michels of Menomonie, WI and four grandchildren, Jay, Matthew, Anthony and Cassidy. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Leone Notingham and Richard "Dick" Yasgar.
