Donald Werkman, age 75, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Don Ludemann officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Donald was born February 21, 1936 in Dewald Township, Nobles County, Minnesota to the late Venno & Florence (Reuber) Werkman. He attended school in Rushmore, MN until 1943. The family then moved to Ripley Township, Morrison County, MN where Don attended District #42 for 8 years. Following his schooling, he worked on the family farm and then joined The National Guard in March, 1954 where he learned to be a Mechanic and was discharged in October, 1960. Don worked at his trade at Larson Ind. and then as a mechanic for the city of Little Falls. He retired because of health problems. He was married to Carol Vogl on May 19, 1978. Donald was a life member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Waite Park since 1969. He is survived by his wife Carol; six children, Sheryl & husband Larry, Jim and wife Carol, Steve and wife Bernie, Judy and significant other Rich, Jana and husband Chuck, Shawn and wife Denise; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anne, Verna, Lavonne and husband Don; three brothers, Larry and wife Shirley, Floyd, Herman and wife Lois and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eldon & Frank; two sisters, Georgia & Darlene; grandson Adam and a niece Elaine.
