Donald B. Gohman, age 82, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Country Manor in Sartell, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with visitation AT THE CHURCH one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Donald was born on March 13, 1928 in St. Augusta, MN to Stephen & Eva (Leich) Gohman. He grew up on a farm near Swanville and at the age of six years, he moved with his family to Little Falls. He lived in Little Falls until 1942 when the family moved to Duluth. He worked on the boats on the Great Lakes before entering the United States Navy. Following his military service he worked at Hennepin Paper Mill in Little Falls. He was united in marriage to Mildred Kollodge on September 3, 1949 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities where Donald went to school to become an electrician. He worked at Northern States Power until his retirement in 1986. The couple purchased some land by Blanchard Dam where they built a home. The couple later moved to Little Falls where they lived until becoming residents at the Country Villa in Sartell. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls and the Royalton American Legion Post #137. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mildred of Sartell, MN; children, Janella (Brian) Burwick, of Guntersville, AL and Bonnie (Greg) Mertes of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Leah Burwick, Brett (Natalie) Burwick, Laurie (Jerry) Thompson and Jessica (Adam) Brinkman; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Ashley Thompson and Hannah and Carter Burwick; twin brother, Gene Gohman of Little Falls, MN. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clarence Gohman, Alvera Westby and Georgina Bruce. Casketbearers will be Thomas Gohman, James Gohman, Jerry Thompson, Adam Brinkman, Greg Mertes and Brett Burwick.
