Dolores "Laurie" Lies, age 82, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 a" 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 4th and 9:00 a" 10:30 A.M. Thursday June 5th at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (East Chapel) in Little Falls. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday at the fuenral home followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Laurie will be deeply missed by her family and by the many who loved her. She was the fourth of nine children born to Frank and Hattie (Ruetz) Hueller of Racine, Wisconsin. Laurie is survived by her ten children, Mary Lange (Joe) Klisch of Bowlus, Tom (Becky Hamm) of St. Cloud, Patrick of Brainerd, Mark of Hutchinson, Steve (Debbie Reznechek), Laurie (Richard) Lozier, and Mike (Cami Long), all of Little Falls, Fr. Jim of Portland, Oregon, Fr. Bill, of South Bend, Indiana, and Sue (Rex) Silber of Hampton; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Sr. Mary Hueller, OSF, and Katherine (Warren) Gulbronson, and two brothers, Br. Norbert Hueller, CFC, and Thomas (Bette Goote) Hueller, her sisters-in-law, Colleen, Mary, and Lou, and brothers-in-law, Warren and Chuck, and many nieces and nephews. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, her sister, Patricia Knotek, and three brothers, Anthony Hueller, Eugene Hueller, and Fr. Francis Hueller, SAC, and her sister-in-law, Ruth, and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Pat. Laurie married Thomas Lies in 1951. She a nurse and he a Catholic elementary school teacher, the two established their home in Little Falls in 1956. In 1966 at the age of 42, Thomas Lies died suddenly, leaving Laurie to raise their ten children, the oldest of whom, Mary, was 14 years old at the time, and the youngest, Susie, who was born six months after Tom's death. Laurie worked for many years at Saint Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, Minnesota, and was an active parishioner at Saint Mary's Catholic parish. She was a long time member of the St. Mary's Christian Mothers, volunteered with the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, and the St. Francis Sisters' Clothes Review. Laurie was also the recipient, in 1985, of the Francis Award, given to employees of St. Gabriel's hospital who best embody the spirit and ideals of the prayer of St. Francis. Over the last 30 years, she developed the Thomas Drive neighborhood, a residential community on the Mississippi River just south of Little Falls, which she named for her late husband. In recent years, Laurie lived with Alzheimer's, and the Lies family wishes to express its deep gratitude to the staff of Harmony House of Little Falls, St. Otto's Care Center, the Unity Family Hospice team, and the many friends and family who accompanied her so well.
