David Mead

David Mead, 68 year old resident of Sleepy Eye formerly of Rice, MN died Friday, October 29 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls on Friday, November 5 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. and burial will follow.

David Mead was born on September 23, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN to Leroy and Yvonne (Antil) Mead. The family lived in Minneapolis for a few years until moving to Rice, MN in 1971. He attended Roosevelt School in St. Cloud. David served his Country in the United States Marine Corp. from February 25, 1971 and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1974. After his honorable discharge, David returned to Minnesota. He was an over the road truck driver for 40 years working for the following companies: Younkin, Terminal, Pohlman and Bartels. He enjoyed collecting vintage memorabilia, Elvis Presley, and repairing old cars especially his, 1957 Mercury two door station wagon.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cory (Sarah) Mead of Albany, Amanda Mead of Avon, Brandon Schleicher of St. Joseph; step-daughter, Ashley (Greg) Elliott of Sunburg and step -son, Cody Johns of Lakeville; grandchildren, Paige, Rylee, Sydney and Aubree; brother, Gary (Sandy) Mead of Alexandria; sister, Karen Yamry of St. Cloud, sister-in-law, Catherine Mead of Buckman and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Yvonne Mead; brother, Rick Mead and a brother-in-law, Steve Yamry.
