David C. Bauer

David Bauer, 66 year old resident of Hillman, formerly of the Brainerd/Baxter area, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at his home in Hillman, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hillman, MN, with Rev. J. Richard Query and Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. There will also be a Masonic Service led by Stephen Johnson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. David was born on July 27, 1943 in Bertha, MN to the late Harry & Eva (Boylan) Bauer. He grew up in the Perham, New York Mills and Wadena areas and graduated from Perham High School, Class of 1961. He then attended Moorhead State College where he graduated in 1966. He was a school teacher for a number of years and then began his 30 year career at BRHSC. David was an intelligent man and was self-taught in many areas including computers and Ham Radio communications. He was united in marriage to Karen L. Bacon on September 7, 1975 in Brainerd, MN. The couple made their home in the Brainerd/Baxter area until their retirement when they moved to rural Hillman, MN. David was an avid hunter, loved to fish, enjoyed traveling until his health declined and enjoyed a good political discussion. His goal was to never stop learning. He was a member of the Brainerd Masonic Lodge where he served as an officer and the Scottish Rite out of Duluth. He was also a member of the NRA and the Eastern Morrison County Sportsman's Club. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen of Hillman, MN; mother-in-law, Christine Bacon of Brainerd; aunt, Phyllis Beving, of Wadena; 6 brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Eva (Boylan) Bauer; grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
