Daryl Johnson, age 86, of Pierz, MN, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, with Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz with a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:30 P.M., Pierz Lions Service at 6:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. Daryl J. Johnson was born on May 19, 1922 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late James & Magdalena (Schommer) Johnson. He grew up on a farm and attended country school in Granite Township. He was employed at Norling Brother's in Svea, MN, where he built silos. He was united in marriage to Marlene Boser on September 28, 1954 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup. The couple made their home on the Johnson family farm in Granite Township where Daryl farmed until 1980 when the couple moved to Pierz. Even though he retired from farming, Daryl continued working at the Pierz Golf Course until 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed working on his yard and lawn. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marlene of Pierz; children, Mari (Curt Kittelson) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Lyn (Mark) Kobilka of Maple Plain, MN, Bruce Johnson of Shoreview, MN, and James Johnson of Fargo, ND; siblings, Howard (Fran) Johnson of Pasadena, TX, Lorraine Walz of Little Falls, MN, LaVerne (Larry) Kohout of Princeton, MN, Shirley Bleichner of Hillman, MN and Ellie (Ron) Tschida of Little Falls, MN, grandchildren, Brandon Kobilka, Matt Kobilka, Adam Kittelson and Abby Kittelson and great-granddaughter, Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Magdalena (Schommer) Johnson, infant sisters, Helen & Marie Johnson, sister, Myrt Kapsner and brother, James Johnson.
