Damus Anthony Matros, 84 year old resident of Longville, MN died Monday, August 28 at the St. Cloud VA Center. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at 10:00 A.M. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
Damus Anthony Matros was born May 13, 1933 in Swanville to the late Frank and Ann(Jendro) Matros. He served in the United States Army from December 10, 1952 until his honorable discharge on March 1, 1956. Damus received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Infantry Badge. After his discharge, he returned to Minnesota. Damus worked as a tile setter for many years. He enjoyed trips to the casino, deer hunting, ice fishing, cutting wood, lawn work and watching Nascar.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Roberta (Keith) Kozelka; brothers, George Matros, Norbert Matros; sister, Leona Copeland; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Joey.
