Conrad Stangl

Conrad Stangl, 96 year old resident of Pierz, MN died Thursday, February 16 at the Pierz Villa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 24 at 10:00 A.M. St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth and Father Al Stangl officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-9:30 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 6:30 P.M. and the Knight of Columbus will pray at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Conrad Stangl was born April 12, 1915 in Pierz Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Joseph and Anna (Schraut) Stangl. Conrad grew up in Pierz Township and attended District #98 country school. Conrad was united in marriage to Laura Langer on September 25, 1939 at St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. The couple was married for 69 years. The couple made their home three and half miles east of Pierz, MN. The couple retired in 1992. Conrad and Laura were honored with the Outstanding Community Service Award for seniors on August 21, 1988. Conrad was active with the Pierz Township Board, Morrison County Zoning and Planning and Farm Bureau for many years. He was diligent in praying the Rosary. He led the Rosary on Sunday's in church and in his later years at the Pierz Villa. Conrad was a very active member with St. Joseph's Catholic Church and The Knight's of Columbus. Remembering him as loving father, grandfather and brother are: his children, Marlene (Ron) Nicholson of Mankato, MN, Mary Ellen (Jim) Wilde of Amboy, MN, Daniel (Bernadette) Stangl of Pierz, MN; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward (Lucille) Stangl, Urban (Viola) Stangl, Marvin (Marion) Stangl, Laura Kapsner all of Pierz, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Schraut) Stangl; wife, Laura Stangl; brother, Jerome Stangl and an infant brother; sisters, Barbara Millner, Elizabeth Becker and Gertrude Kapsner. Casketbearers will be: John Nicholson, Jeff Nicholson, Debbie Winch, Chad Wilde, Thomas Stangl, Mark Stangl.
