Clarence Firkus

Clarence P. Firkus, 79 year old resident of Pierz, MN died Tuesday, June 12 at his son's home in Pierz, MN. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 16 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 9:00-10:00 A.M. on Saturday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN . Parish Prayers will be said at 4:15 P.M. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Clarence P. Firkus was born July 25, 1932 in Holdingford, MN to the late Frank Henry Firkus and Anastasia "Stella" (Kruza) Firkus. Clarence's family moved to Harding, MN, area when he was a young boy where he attended country school. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Przybilla on May 11, 1960 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Hillman, MN. The couple later divorced. Clarence lived in Mankato, MN for several years where he managed a mobile home park. He also worked at Taytronics in St. Peter, MN and also worked as a bookkeeper and at the Holiday Station Store in St. Peter, MN. He was proud to have worked until he was the age of 74. Clarence enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, turtle hunting, gardening, flowers, birds and loved animals. He enjoyed driving around and looking at the sights. Left to cherish his memory are his children, , Tom (Brenda) Firkus of Whiteside, MO Jerry (Diane) Firkus of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Ron (Laura) Firkus of Pierz, MN, Michelle (Ken) Hassan of Isanti, MN; sister, Maxine (Sonny) Bednar of Pierz, MN; sister-in-law, Dorine (Schraut) Firkus of Eagle Bend, MN; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anastasia "Stella" (Kursa) Firkus; brother, Frank H. Firkus; two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Stegora and Loretta Jamma.
