Charlene Starin, 93 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 113 4th Street NE, Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Randy Welsand officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 25th at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service, 900 1st St. SE, Little Falls, MN and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, at 1:15 p.m. Monday, July 28th gather in in Assembly Area 4 by 1:10 p.m.
Charlene was born on October 30, 1920 in Duluth, Minnesota the daughter of George & Tressa (Maxwell) Champlin.Charlene graduated from Eveleth Junior College in 1940 with an Associate Degree in Business.She was united in marriage to Andrew Starin on March 9, 1942, in Bemidji, MN.The couple moved to Little Falls in 1948. Charlene worked at Lenont Peterson Clinic in Virginia, MN and as an administrative secretary at Camp Ripley north of Little Falls.In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing bingo, traveling, crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper.She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior and the Little Falls American Legion Auxiliary. Charlene served as the American Legion Auxiliary District #6 President in 1976 and the Legion Auxiliary Department President in 1985.She also an avid volunteer in the Little Falls community volunteering at St. Gabriels Hospital, Lindbergh PTA, Campfire Girls, American Field Service and also counseled at Girls State for many years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Andrea (the late Henry Dahlman) Starin of Minneapolis, MN, Debra (Bill James) Starin of Denver, CO, Geoffrey Starin of Little Falls, MN and Lisa Starin of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Kerry (Jolene Stephens) Forsyth of Minnetonka, MN, Quentin (Melinda) Starin of Minneapolis, MN and Adelle (Erik) Chisholm of Little Falls, MN; four great-grandchildren, Remington & Flynn Chisholm, Adeline Starin and Alice Rose Forsyth.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, George & Tressa (Maxwell) Champlin; husband, Andrew J. Starin (Jan. 10, 2009); son-in-law, Dr. Henry Dahlman; two brothers and three sisters.
