Carol Theis

Carol Theis, 79 year old resident of Buckman, MN, died Tuesday, March 26 as the result of an automobile accident in Benton County, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 1 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 31 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN and from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Monday at the church. Parish Prayers will be said at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday.The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 9:15 AM Monday at the church. Carol Theis was born May 21, 1933 in Flensburg, Minnesota to the late Cyril and Frances (Zoren) Zilkoski. She attended elementary school in Flensburg, MN. Carol graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls, MN, with the class of 1951. After high school she worked for the Morrison County Courthouse and Crestliner Boats. Carol was united in marriage to Claude Theis on September 22, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. The couple resided in the State of Virginia, where Claude was stationed in the military. He was called into active duty and Carol returned to Minnesota. She worked for Cook Paint and Varnish in Minneapolis, MN, for two and half years. In April of 1957, the couple moved to the Theis family farm in Buckman Township, Morrison County. She was a stay at home mother for several years raising the couple's children; Tom, Bonnie, John, Amy and the late Shelly. Carol also worked for Cliff's Bar in Buckman, MN, for 20 years and at United Mailing in Little Falls, MN, for 12 years. Carol enjoyed reading and cooking. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN and the Christian Mothers. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Tom (Diana) Theis of Pierz, MN, Bonnie (Joe Martin) Theis of Eden Prairie, MN, John (Kelly) Theis of Little Falls, MN and Amy (John) Schmitz of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Aaron Theis, Adam (Karie) Theis, Casey Theis, Alyssa Theis, Lauren Theis, Elizabeth Theis, Eleanor Martin, Nicholas Schmitz, Isaac Martin, Kate Schmitz; great-grandchildren, Kadynce Theis and Reed Theis; siblings, Laverne Schneider of Little Falls, MN, Betty Gibson of Sioux Falls, SD, Joan (Eddie) Zilka of St. Louis Park, MN, Alyce Muncy of Buckman, MN and Sharon (Dave) Kirchner of Minnetonka, MN and three sisters-in-law, Marcy Zilkoski and Ellen Akotchik of Little Falls, MN and Marie (Roman) Meyer of Pierz, MN She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Theis (2008); daughter, Shelly Theis; siblings, John Zilkoski, Lorraine Miller, Bernie Gruber, Violet Schneider and a brother-in-law, John Akotchik. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Eleanor Martin, Isaac Martin, Nicholas Schmitz and Kate Schmitz. Casket Bearers will be: Aaron Theis, Adam Theis, Casey Theis, Alyssa Theis, Lauren Theis and Elizabeth Theis.
