Siekman, Carol Ann (nee Rueter). 60, of Cushing, MN, formerly of Edina, MN died 4/23/10 at the Mayo Clinic: St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester MN after battling a severe case of Bacterial Meningitis. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, April 30, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 25430 Bison Rd, Cushing, MN 56443, with Rev. Heather Culuris officiating. Private interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Beloved wife, sister, mom, and nana, Carol was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois June 30, 1949 and spent her childhood in Palos Park, IL. She married Norman Siekman in 1969 and was a 1972 graduate of the University of Illinois. Carol was an aerobics and swimming instructor as well as a teacher before raising her three children in Wheaton, Il. In 1989 she moved with her family to Edina MN. In 2008 she and Norm retired to Lake Alexander. She spent her life giving to others through volunteering. Carol was a long-time member of the League Aires, a volunteer singing group that performs at nursing homes and hospitals. She was a passionate and talented quilter and recent member of the Staples Area Women's Chorus. Carol was a devoted nana to her grandchildren, the center of the family, an adventurous cook who also loved to entertain, read and garden. She was a generous, gregarious person, and was a great listener. Everyone who met her was charmed by her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Norman; children, Matthew (Kelly), Katherine Moses (Chris), Alexis; her four adoring grandchildren; sister, Elaine Henzel of N.Aurora, IL, and her loyal golden retriever Sunny. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Helen Rueter (nee Maclaren. In lieu of flowers, memorials accepted at Bethany Lutheran Church.
