Carl Torkelson

Carl I. Torkelson, 75, passed away Friday, September 10 at his home in Onamia, MN. Carl was born on January 14, 1935 in Goteborg, Sweden to the late Bertil and Greta (Karlsson) Torkelson. At the age of 15, his family moved to the U.S. and settled in Chicago. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 and served two years in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1959. He married June O'Hotto in 1962 in Chicago. She passed away in 1968. Carl lived in various states throughout his life. He married Kathy DeColigny in 1977. They later divorced. He later moved to Onamia, MN and worked at Grand Casino Mille Lacs until his retirement. He is survived by a daughter, Tammi (Joe) O'Neil, Pierz, MN; a brother, Siad (Mary Ann) Torkelson, Mesquite, NV; nieces, Lisa Milton, Bourbannais, IL, and Lori Mealing, North Augusta, S. Carolina; granddaughters, Sara (Justin) Luberts and Kaitlin O'Neil, both of Pierz, MN; and great grandchildren, Breann and Jack Luberts. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, June . Graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service Serving Onamia, MN.
