Br. Roman Lawrence Fleischhacker, OSC, age of 90 of Onamia, MN, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013.
Roman was born near St. Martin, MN, to Joseph A. and Ann E. (Gully) Fleischhacker on August 9, 1923.He was educated in St. Martin School District 22 and at St. Johns in Collegeville, MN, for high school and junior college.He joined the Crosier Order in the Novitiate at Hastings, NE, in 1948, and made first profession of vows on March 19, 1949.
Survived by siblings Sr. Emerentia, OSB, Ralph (AnnaMae), Ardwin, Merwyn (Rita), Richard (Eileen), and Fr. John, OSC, and his Crosier confreres.Roman was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters-in-law Clotilda, Doreen, and LuAnn.
Br. Roman was the Director of the Crosier Apostolate donor program for the Onamia Priory for many years, and in this ministry he became familiar with many generous benefactors and friends of the Crosiers around Central Minnesota and beyond.He was also involved in the Crosier Mission Office and served as the Alumni Director for Crosier Seminary for many years.He was also very involved in the TEC and Koinonia programs in the Diocese of St. Cloud and managed a Catholic book store at the Priory in Hastings some of his years there.
Reception of the Body will take place at the Crosier Priory church in Onamia on Thursday, September 19th, at 9:00 AM with the Office of the Dead.Vigil until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 with lunch to follow.Burial will be in the Priory cemetery.
Memorials preferred to the Crosier Fathers and Brothers for the Brother Roman Fleischhacker, OSC, Scholarship Fund established in his honor in 1986 for the formation and education of the next generation of Crosiers.% The Crosier Priory, Box 500, Onamia, MN 56359.
