Glidden, Br. Michael Joseph (William Jr.), OSC.Born April 23, 1927, to William and Katherine (McConville) Glidden in Holyoke, Massachusetts.Preceded in death by four siblings.Survived by one brother, Fred, and members of the extended Glidden family. Br. Mike served in the U.S. Navy 1945-46 as WW II was concluding.He joined the Crosiers as a novice in 1953 and made his first Profession of Vows on March 19, 1954, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.He died in Onamia, Minnesota, on December 5, 2014, at the age of 87 at Mille Lacs Health System long-term care. His ministry centered on coaching and work with youth at Crosier Seminary in Onamia 1958-83, St. Stephens Church in Anoka 1983-91, the Nexus program in Onamia 1991-2006, and at Onamia High School 1991-2014.He was inducted into the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2001.
Funeral Services will include the Crosiers Reception of the Body at their Priory in Onamia on Tuesday, December 9th, at 4:30 PM, with Office for the Dead.Vigil will be kept in the Priory Church until the Funeral Mass begins at 7:00 PM.Hospitality will follow the liturgy.Private burial at the Priory Cemetery will take place on Wednesday.
The Crosier Community mourns the loss of our brother.Memorials are preferred to the Br. Michael Glidden, OSC, Scholarship, a resource that Br. Mike supported for the education of new Crosiers in their ministry training, particularly to youth.
