Betty Rutz, 89 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at her home in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 and 9-10am Saturday, January 26, 2013 all at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. There will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Betty Marie Fedor was born on May 9, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Michael & Anna (Carlson) Fedor. She attended school in Robbinsdale, MN, graduating from Robbinsdale High School. Betty was united in marriage to Leonard Rutz on June 24, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, Minnesota. The couple made their home south of Little Falls living in the Gregory Depot. The couple moved into Little Falls in 1951. Betty worked as a secretary and later the office manager at Northern Pines Mental Health Center. Betty enjoyed researching family genealogy and created many scrapbooks of family history on both sides of the family. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitching, quilting, dancing, singing in choirs, traveling, square-dancing, was very artistic and volunteered many years at St. Otto's Care Center. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, Polish Echos, Catholic Aid Society, Little Falls VFW Auxiliary, Christian Mothers and the "Donut Crew" at the Little Falls Senior Center. Her family and friends will remember her as a very gentle soul. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Shirley) Rutz of Jordan, MN, Duane (Linda) Rutz of Hallock, MN, Mary (Bob) Kempenich of Little Falls, MN, David (Meg) Rutz of Chugiak, AK, and Cynthia Rutz of Valpariso, IN; siblings, Dorothy Black of St. Paul, MN, Marian Engstrom of Minneapolis, MN, Jeanne Heitkamp of St. Paul, MN, Grace (Eddie) Snaza of Rogers, MN and George (Gail) Fedor of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Michael & Anna Fedor; husband, Leonard Rutz (Oct. 23, 2011); daughter, Susanne Rutz; siblings, Robert Fedor, Michael Fedor, Anna Scott; grandchildren, Bobby Kempenich and Amelia Rutz.
