Bernard Paul Kloss

Bernard P. Kloss, 81 year old resident of Royalton, MN, died Sunday, June 2 surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 5 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN and from 9:30-10:45 A.M. on Thursday morning at the funeral home. The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M.

Bernard Paul Kloss was born January 24, 1931 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Sam and Gertrude (Smieja) Kloss. Bernie was a member of the Merchant Marines for a short time. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Otremba on October 19, 1954 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. The couple made their home in Brooklyn Park, MN.In 1966, they moved to Monticello, MN later moving to Pierz, MN in 1973.In 1978, Bernie and Charlotte moved to Royalton where they farmed and raised chickens. Bernie also worked for Orin Thompson Homes, E & H Earth Movers and James Crystal Construction. He always tried to keep his boys busy on the farm. Bernie enjoyed fishing, card playing, mowing lawn and building putzy things. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and 49ers union.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons & daughter, Ken (Kathy) Kloss of Fort Ripley, MN, Steve (Jean) Kloss of St. Cloud, MN, Gary (Julie) Kloss of Royalton, MN, Scott (Sally) Kloss of Royalton, MN, Greg Kloss of St. Cloud, MN and Kathleen (Charlie) Gocken of Royalton, MN; sisters, Helen Bauer of Little Falls, MN, Clara Schafer of Brainerd, MN and Evelyn (Pete) Tatum of New Orleans, LA; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte Kloss in April of 2011; son, Gerry Kloss; daughter, Constance Connie Kloss; brothers, Leo Kloss and Leonard Kloss.
