Benedict Kasella

Benedict Kasella Jr. 69 year old resident of Morrill, MN died Monday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 25 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morrill, MN with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday at the church hall and from 9:00 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. on Friday at the church in Morrill, MN. Parish Prayers will be said at 7:00 P.M. followed by the Knights of Columbus at 8:00 P.M on Thursday at the church. Benedict Kasella was born October 19, 1941 to the late Benedict and Leona (Popp) Kasella. He graduated from Royalton High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Justin on October 5, 1963 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN. The couple made their home in Morrill Township, Morrison County, Minnesota. He worked for Guggenberger Construction from 1964-1979. In 1979, he started Kasella Concrete, which he owned and operated until retiring in 2002. Benedict enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling. Ben enjoyed his morning coffee with friends, grilling steaks at the campsite for family and friends. Gator rides with children and grandchildren. He also fabricated an airboat and working thrashing machine. Benedict was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morrill, MN; Knights of Columbus which he was a fourth degree; Lions; Moose Lodge and the Crosier Apostolate. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lou Kasella of Morrill, MN; children, Jim (Deanna) Kasella of Holdingford, MN, Judy (Gary) Plumski of Sauk Rapids, MN, Shelly (Galen) Kelash of Hinckley, MN, Mary "Kay" (Tim) Knudsen of St. Joseph, MN, Robert (Amy) Kasella of Morrill, MN, Patty (Roger) Ratke of Royalton, MN, Lisa (Todd) Meyer of Lastrup, MN, Steve (Colleen) Kasella of Morrill, MN, Sarah (Michael) Kloss of Royalton, MN, Anita "Nina" (Jerry) Dalen of Little Falls, MN, Jeff (Kayla) Kasella of Rice, MN; 36 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. siblings, Jan (Ken) Dahmen of Pierz, MN, Marilyn (Syl) Prokott of Royalton, MN, Colleen (John) Justin of Little Falls, MN; Harvey (Marian) Kasella of Royalton, MN and Kevin (Pat) Kasella of Royalton, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict and Leona (Popp) Kasella; daughter, Laura Kasella; granddaughter, Elli Kasella; nieces, Cheryl Prokott and Virginia Kasella; nephews, David Justin, Jeffrey Schreifels, Trent Schreifels, Jeff Wickman and Dean Atkinson; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Justin. In lieu of flowers memorials will be used to the various local organizations involved with Ben's care during this journey.
