Barbara Marshall

Barbara “Barb” Marshall, 88 year old resident of Pierz, passed away on Wednesday, February 12 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. A Memorial Service Celebrating Barbara's Life will be held on Wednesday, February 19th at 11:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN with Gregg Valentine officiating. A visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. The burial will be held at River Side Cemetery near Brainerd.

Barb was born on April 1, 1936 to the late Guy F and Louise B Rosekrans. She grew up in the St. Matthias area. She was married to Vernon R. Marshall on October 24, 1953, at the St. Matthias Church. Together they raised four sons. During her working life she worked mostly as a waitress and a housewife. She moved many times and lived all over the state of Minnesota until finally settling in the Fort Ripley area in 1975. She lived there until moving to Pierz in 2019. Barbara enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, tatting, painting, and almost any type of crafts.

She was raised during the Great Depression / World War II era and therefore knew the true value of a dollar and threw away almost nothing. She could Pinch a Penny so tight Abe Lincoln could holler. Barbara enjoyed visiting, sometimes she talked so much no one else could get a word in.

Barbara is survived by sons, Vernon Jr. (Bernice) and Randy (Julie); her brother's, Virgil and Vernon (Butch, wife Vivian); sister, Sharon Moran (Ronnie); 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon; her sons, Jeffrey and Wayne; brother, Frederick; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Virgil) and Marlys (Virgil); and granddaughter, Donna Marshall.
