Barbara “Barb” Kaluza, 79-year-old resident of Little Falls, died Wednesday, May 24 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 2 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service on Friday at the church. The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls on Friday, June 2 at 12:00 P.M. A Rosary will be said at 9:00 A.M. on Friday morning at the church.

Barbara Ellen Hatfield was born May 11th, 1944 in South Saint Paul, Minnesota to the late Thomas and Dorothy (Keogh) Hatfield. Barb attended and graduated in 1962 from South Saint Paul High School. After high school, she attended Saint Cloud School of Nursing and Saint Cloud State University. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing. Throughout her life, Barb dedicated her life to nursing working at Saint Cloud Hospital, Dr. Schmitz and Dr. Vinck, Saint Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Carlton County Nursing Services, Morrison County Public Health, Saint Gabriel’s Hospital Home Care and Hospice. She was united in marriage to Peter Kaluza on June 6, 1974 at Holy Trinity Catholic in South Saint Paul. Barbara enjoyed volunteering at Mary of Lourdes School, reading, and sewing. She was a part of many organizations such as American Cancer Society, Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Nurse, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Council. Barb’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchild.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Eric Kaluza of Saint Paul, Marc Kaluza of Thief River Falls, Michael Kaluza of Little Falls; grandchild, Gabrielle Mae Kaluza of Thief River Falls; brother, David (Cheryl) Hatfield of Saint Paul; sisters, Peggy Huemmer of Mora, Beth Ann Hatfield of South Saint Paul; sister-in-law, Molly Hatfield of West Bend, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dorothy (Keogh) Hatfield; ; husband, Peter J. Kaluza; brothers, James Hatfield, Richard Hatfield and Charles Hatfield; sister-in-law, Janice Hatfield; brother-in- law, Edward Huemmer.
