August Sobieck

August "Gus" Sobieck, age 94, of St. Paul, MN formerly of Royalton, MN, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Rev. Laurn Virnig officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service at the church. August "Gus" Sobieck was born on November 6, 1915 in Royalton, Minnesota to the late Valentine "Walter" & Mary (Zomeier) Sobiech. He was united in marriage to Delores "Toots" Guck in 1941 at St. Therese's Parish in St. Paul, MN. The couple made their home in St. Paul, MN where Gus worked as a Millrite at American Can Company in St. Paul, MN. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and working in his yard and garden. Left to cherish her memory are his children, Raymond Sobieck of St. Paul, MN and Mary Kay Sobieck of St. Paul, MN; brother, George Sobieck of Royalton, MN, and his favorite pets and companions, Toots and Gus. Gus was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine "Walter" & Mary (Zomeier) Sobiech; wife, Delores "Toots" Sobieck (August 20, 2004); siblings, Eleanor Sobiech, Agnes Meyer, Julia Karnowski, John Sobiech, Louis Sobiech, Bill Sobiech and Ray Sobieck.
