Arlene Marie Skrock, 96 year old resident of Royalton died Friday, April 20 at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Roger Klassen officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the church. The burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
Arlene is a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. She served her country as a WAVE, working as a radioman first class cryptologist from 1942 until her honorable discharge in 1954. In this capacity she monitored enemy ships locations. After her discharge Arlene worked for Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, from 1953 until 1958 serving in Egypt, Germany, Japan and Washington, DC. Arlene Hyman was born on April 11, 1922 in East Orange, New Jersey to the late Louis and Agnes (Reiley) Hyman. She attended Oceanside High School in Long Island, New York. She was married to Gerald Skrock resident of Royalton, MN and a retired Naval Officer who also worked at the CIA. The couple moved to Royalton in 1961 and Arlene began her career with Morrison County Social Services. Arlenewore many hats while working for Morrison County and took great pride in her work. She was director of child support service, the Morrison County Fraud Department and served as income supervisor and collections supervisor for the county. Arlene was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and officer for the Minnesota Disabled Veterans, a delegate to the Minnesota Library Board and an active member of the American Legion Post #137
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Jacqueline Scherer of Alexandria, VA, Bernadette Kant of Ridge Manor, FL; sister-in-law, Marie Hyman of Patterson, NJ; 20 nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; sister, Phyllis Jacobson and a brother, Lloyd Hyman.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the American Legion.
