Anthony "Tony" Monaco, Jr. 59 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:45 P.M. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial will follow at the Minnesota Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, November 30th and from 11:30 to 12:30 PM on Monday, December 1st at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service, 900 1st St. SE Little Falls. Parish Prayers will be said at 5:30 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Anthony M. Monaco was born August 18, 1949 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Anthony F. and Lena (Smallze) Monaco, Sr. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War (August 23, 1967) at age 17. Anthony fought with Bravo 1/5 in the battle of Hue City and the TET Offensive as a Mortarman and Squad Leader. He was highly decorated and honorably discharged on June 30, 1970 with four Purple Hearts, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Rifle Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm and bronze star. Anthony was united in marriage to MaryAnn Chiaravalloti on August 28, 1971 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bayonne, NJ. Anthony and MaryAnn have resided in New Jersey, California and Minnesota. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, coin collecting and spending time with his family. Anthony was a member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Clubs, American Legion, DAV, VFW and National Rifle Association. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son of the late Anthony and Lena Monaco. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Anthony is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Monaco of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Dawn (Shane) Poe of Otsego, MI and Jamie (Matthew) Sunder of Little Falls, MN; brother, Robert Monaco of Pennsylvania; sisters, Diane McLaughlin of North Carolina, Mary (Kevin) Flynn of New Jersey, and Linda Sheridan of Florida; seven grandchildren, Alisha, Richard, Jacob, Tyler, Dominic, Zachary and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony, Sr. and Lena (Smallze) Monaco. Arrangements are with the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, Minnesota.
