Alvina Welle, 95 year old resident of Little Falls, MN died Sunday, February 15 at the Pierz Villa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 20 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church Belle Prairie with Fr. Joseph Herzing officiating.The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.A visitation will be held Thursday, February 19 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service on Friday at the church.Parish Prayer will beat 5:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Saint Anns Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 10:15 AM on Friday at the church.
Alvina Marie Weiss was born October 12, 1919 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Peter and Magdalena (Millner) Weiss.She attended country school in District #55 where she completed eight grades in six years.She was united in marriage to Victor H. Welle on April 12, 1944 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Lastrup, Minnesota. The couple moved to Belle Prairie Township in 1944, where they farmed for 38 years and raised their nine children. Victor died on October 2, 1994. Alvinas working career as a Nursing Assistant included 21 years at St. Gabriels Hospital in Little Falls as well as some time at St. Josephs Hospital in Brainerd and St. Marys Hospital in Duluth.After retirement, she continued living in Belle Prairie and Little Falls, MN, until moving into the Pierz Villa in October 2013.She enjoyed spending time with her family along with playing cards, quilting, embroidering, gardening, and square dancing with the Lindy Square Dancers.Her volunteer work included making donuts at the Senior Center, the Stitch in Time group at St. Gabriels Hospital, organizing recreational activities at St. Ottos, and helping with food service at Alverna Apartments.She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Belle Prairie, where she was active with St. Annes Christian Mothers, St. Robert Mission Group, and St. Judes Mission Circle.She was also involved with the Sunshine Homemakers Club which was a University of MN Extension Office study group.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Duane (Charlotte) Welle of Fort Ripley, MN, Roger (Elizabeth) Welle of Mendota Heights, MN, Darrell (Beverly) Welle of Fort Ripley, MN, Eileen (Llyal) Bratonof Barnesville, MN,Chet (Elynn) Welle of Rochester, MN, Larry (Deborah) Welle of Little Falls, MN,Janice Welle of Moorhead, MN, Kenneth (Cinthia) Welle of Little Falls, MN and Beatrice Beady (Darvin)Keehr of Little Falls, MN;siblings, Juliette Henley of Port Aransas, TX, Corrinne Murray of Brainerd, MN,Leon (Joyce)Weiss of Pierz, MN, and Jo Ann (Pat) Faust of Milaca, MN; 22 grandchildren, Kristine, Scott, Cynthia, Emily, Victoria, Steve, Josh, Becky, Ann, Adam, Peter, Julia, Patrick, Brian, Jeremy, Eric, Lacey, Justin, Darrin, Jenna, Kari and Andy; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Magdalena; husband, Victor Welle; brothers, Wilfred Weiss and Clarence Weiss.
