Alvin J. Perowitz, age 74, of St. Cloud, MN, formerly of Flensburg, MN, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN, with Fr. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church Alvin J. Perowitz was born on August 14, 1933 in Burtrum, MN, to the late Edmund & Lucille (Palashewski) Perowitz. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 20 years. During his military career, he served in the Korean Conflict and later became a nuclear weapons inspector. He achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After his career in the military, he returned to Flensburg where he lived with his father. He opened Al's Sharpening Service which he owned and operated for a number of years. He later moved to St. Cloud where he lived in an apartment and later became a resident of the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. Alvin's hobbies and interests included baseball and football. In his later years, he enjoyed following any sporting event on TV. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Ray Perowitz of Sacramento, CA and Geraldine "Geri" (Don) Wheeler of North Branch, MN and many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund & Lucille (Palashewski) Perowitz; siblings, Bernard, Bernadine, Fred and Edmund, Jr. Perowitz.
