Alexander "Alex" Kotzer

Alexander "Alex" Kotzer, age 81, of Bowlus, MN, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at the St. Cloud VA Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2013 at Community Country Church in Holdingford, MN, with Rev. Gregg Valentine officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Alexander Kotzer was born on December 5, 1932, in Elmdale Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Paul & Sophia (Hersil) Kotzer.He grew up on a farm in Elmdale Township and attended country school.He entered the United State Marines on January 8, 1952 and was honorably discharged on February 12, 1959.He was united in marriage to Terry Rafferty on December 18, 1953.They lived in a number of places and eventually settled in Minnesota.Alex worked primarily as a truck driver and a farmer.When he turned 62, he retired from truck driving and continued to farm until a year ago.He loved animals, tearing up the lawn with the tractor and was a hard worker.In his later years, he enjoyed socializing at Jordies in Bowlus.

Survivors include his children, Dotzie Kotzer Kohnen of Roscoe, MN, Audrey (Scott) Soltis of Bowlus, MN, Kenny (Kathy) Kotzer of Clear Lake, MN, Phyllis (Pete) Kotzer of St. Cloud, MN, Rick Kotzer of Rogers, MN, David Kotzer of Bowlus, MN, Bill Kotzer of Hackensack, MN, Lori (Kevin) Kotzer Vredenburg of Pequot Lake, MN, Shirley Kotzer of Willow, AK, Daniel (Cathy) Kotzer of Sartell, MN; brother, Donald (Patty) Kotzer of Holdingford, MN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Terry; children, Glenn Tony Kotzer; grandchild, Tatum Soltis; sisters, Margie Klein, Ruthie Klein and Rosemary Kotzer.
