Peter Gohl

Peter Gohl, 95 year old resident of Pierz, MN died Friday, November 6 at the Pierz Villa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 13 at 10:30 A.M. St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Fr. Gerald Dalseth and Fr. Kenneth Popp Con-Celebrating. The burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Morrill, MN. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 9:00 -10:00 A.M on Friday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Servicein Pierz, MN. The Parish Prayers will be said at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Peter Gohl was born December 31, 1919 in Morrill Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Michael and Catherine (Dahmen) Gohl. He attended District #56 Country School through the eighth grade. Because of his love of education, he would sneak away to school on the days he was supposed to stay home and work. He was the youngest boy in the family and stayed on the farm until being drafted in 1942. He served in the Armys 65th Division as a medic in Europe until his discharge in 1945. After the war he worked at Swift and Company as a maintenance man. He enrolled in Barber School after the war, but was called home to farm. Peter was united marriage to Beata E. Muyres on May 7, 1946 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Morrill, MN. They spent the following years raising their fivechildren on the family dairy farm. Pete quit farming and sold all the animals,the same year the cows got out while the couplewasat a Polka Fest. They moved to Pierz, MN in 2007. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and especially dancing. Pete was a member of the Heartland Polka Swingers, the Pierz American Legion #341 and the Knights of Columbus in Pierz, MN.

Left to cherish his memory are children, Diane (Dick) Ruegemer of St. Cloud, MN, Gary (Theresa) Gohl of East Bethel, MN, Deb Millner of Pierz, MN, Cynthia (Rick) Mahutga of Sioux Falls, SD and Barbara (Don) Scherbing of Monticello, MN; grandchildren, Krisie Barron, Danna Mokamba, Erik Gohl, Brent Gohl, Sarah Isabel, Nathan Gohl, Chad Millner, Nicole Gillespie, Ryan Mahutga, Justin Mahutga, Aaron Scherbing, Corey Scherbing, Deanna Rothhaupt, Robyn Downer and 23 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Hub Muyres.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Catherine Gohl; wife, Beata Gohl on February 28, 2015; brothers, Reiny, Wally, Ray, Andy, Bob andMike, Jr.; sister, Frances andsons-in-law, Robbie Varsnick and Chuck Millner;

Casket Bearers will be: Erik Gohl, Brent Gohl, Nathan Gohl, Chad Millner, Aaron Scherbing, Corey Scherbing, Ryan Mahutga and Justin Mahutga.
